Antony Augoustakis, Professor of Classics, has just published a new book on Flavian Campania, published by Oxford University Press, with co-editor Joy Littlewood.

Titled Campania in the Flavian Poetic Imagination, the collection of essays examines various aspects of Campania just before and after the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 CE, during the period of the Flavian emperors.

This new work offers the first examination of the region of Campania in Flavian poetry, orienting readers in the most up-to-date research on the topic. It also examines the works of prominent Flavian authors in detail alongside an overview of the portrayal of the region and its cities in Flavian literature more generally.

Campania in the Flavian Poetic Imagination includes a broad range of contributions from an international group of established and emerging scholars.
